Getting on with it …
The announcement has been made on the family website: Rebecca and I have separated. In early May Rebecca shared with me that she didn’t want to be married anymore and, on June 30th, she moved out of the Woodland Estate. Since then I’ve been working on providing a stable environment for the kids as they also deal with the change. In addition, I’ve also struggled to deal with the separation both in emotional and practical terms. While there is still a great deal of work to do in this area, I’m much better off emotionally than I was a month ago. And I’m confident that things will be better still next month. While it is premature to share all of the details, I would like to acknowledge the support of my crew (you know who you are!). They pulled me up off the floor when I was down, and down from the ceiling when I was raging. And they provided me with very, very valuable advice. I am in a much better place as a result of their support.
With everything going on in my personal-family life, a number of projects have fallen by the wayside, particularly the creative projects. My writing has stalled and I’ve taken few photographs in the past few months. On the plus side the stress and turmoil of the last few months have left me about 15 pounds lighter. I’ve also stepped up my exercise regimen. Last week, for example, I logged about sixteen miles. Most of those miles were brisk walking, with a little running thrown in on top. I’m feeling better about my physical condition than I have in a long time.
Now it is time to get on with it.
